Medieval Hut 6 hours work

Post by Zante » Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:59 pm

I managed to do all of this today:

Image

The textures are all from http://www.cgtextures.com
Modelled inside sketchup (just for speed)
Lightmapped using the light-up plugin for sketchup (again for speed, I do have a vray license for max).

Web player: http://marunchak.co.uk/unity/light_shadow/

The lightmap was rendered with the roof off, so it's not accurate in case anyone's wondering. ;p The shadows are just so much more interesting this way though.

It took so long because it's running inside a real-time 3D engine and had to be ported with shaders etc... :]

Thank you to Adam for this beautiful plugin, it makes everything so much more fun to do.

Hi,

Very nice job.
My brother in law has a small castle in southwest in France and I project to rebuild virtually his castle like you did.
I'm also working with Unity, and I really enjoy to use the mix Lightup-SU/Unity.

I may sound uninformed by asking this, but how did you do the fire in the fireplace?
Peeking in from the outside of the software dev world.
