Ipad & Navigator plug in issues

Post by icekarim » Tue Nov 22, 2016 8:06 am

Hi Adam

Plug in
I have been using Lightup for several years now.
All my projects are presented to my clients on the web with a link to luca files on the browser plug in.
They where used to it, and pleased, simple to use just a plug in to install.
Still no issue for your plug-in to work again ?

Ipad
Because of restrictions on the Ipad (IOS) the links to luca files must be secured https type.
I cannot link any more to my web hosted files.
I have to copy the files to dropbox, then make a link, and copy paste the link to the Ipad App.
Not en efficient way to work :
Must copy files twice (once on the web for luca player, once on dropbox for the Ipad)
And I noticed that the file once loaded in the Ipad App is not saved on the Ipad !
As soon as I quit Lightup, I must reload my file.
Quite a long time to wait for some some files to load (some are above 50Mb)
Can the loaded files be saved on the Ipad ?

Best regards

Adam, I'd like to "second" the issues raised in this topic.

Having a functional web player is the missing link for getting content out onto the internet (and also increasing Lightup's exposure and sales) and I also raised that HTTPS issue on the iPad some time ago. Since then I have converted my site to HTTPS but still it would be good to fix this one.

One other thing I would love to see is a converter that bakes textures and puts it back into .SKP format rather than just FBX. That would be useful! There are plugins that can convert a FBX back into SKP but they often do not produce a very "clean" conversion if you know what I mean.

Hi Adam, and Grice

Since I have been using lightup, I have generated
475 different versions luca files.
270 single individual projects.
All of those files where presented on my web site with the viewer plug-in.
None of them works now.

I'll have - I hope soon - an appointment with an important English real estate company.
They would be amazed to seen how easy projects can be show on a web browser.
No need for any install except the plug-in.

I really hope Adam that this first issue will be one of your priorities.
Every body has a browser !

The Ipad issue is not as important for me because of the Ipad restrictions (small screen, buggy, need memory...)
Only one of my clients has used it.

Hope you'll answer soon.

Best regards

Adam, when I was originally looking for a 3rd party renderer, I dismissed Lightup because what I saw on you website was not very impressive and looked homegrown. If you tidied up that website and put a decent animated Luca model on the front page, every second Sketchup user would be buying a Lightup licence... Or at the very least you would double your current user base. You've done the hard work already, it is seriously that close... :!:

Hi Adam

I'm really sad not knowing if the lightup player for browsers will ever be available again.
I am sure this functionality is absolutely necessary.

I'm presenting my work to a company soon, live rendering is something they will appreciate.
If it can be presented directly on the web it's fare away better then installing and using the player.

Could you PLEASE answer my request ?
Will the browser player be available on day ?

Best regards
